this bodes poorly for traffic. If the HWY 6 pass (which goes over Loveland) is closed, t he Eisenhower /Johnson tunnels will have to close once every hour to allow hazardous materials through. It’s ALWAYS a massive nightmare. Closing for a short time every hour usually results in hours of backups.

I thought I saw on Twitter somewhere that the tunnel is also closed to all traffic?

my brother/sister in law live and work in Vail, so I’m up there pretty regularly.
The potholes on Vail pass this past year have been a monumental hazard in even the tiniest bit of bad weather.
Saw a car or two off to the side after one potholed sweeping high speed downhill left turn every time I went by.

I thought they were worse than I remembered.
Wish I had some fam up in the mountains.

I rode a lift with an elderly gent who told me about training on Loveland pass during ww2. Said they’d hike up twice a day and ski down. Which I cannot imagine doing ins heavy woolen ww2 era winter weather clothing and full packs/gear

Well duh, just take 285 through Fairplay. Never any traffic, and definitely won’t be sketchy at all.

a younger me loaded up (overloaded) a friend’s explorer a few times to take the back route to the resorts. Takes longer, but when i-70 is closed you can get some epic fresh snow and nearly empty slopes as a reward

Mmmm, moe’s BBQ.
I mean, I have one 5 minutes away, but I’m still amazed they blew up in CO....just because they wanted to.

My younger years, I had to volunteer three months each year to work an off hours shift. I’d do that every Jan, Feb, March....work midnights, Sat-Tues, go up after work on Tuesday , come back down on Saturday. A bunch of us rented a condo for ski season every year.

in my teen years I lives in Evergreen, and worked as the Breeze ski rental in Dumont/Downiville. Work the morning rental
shift, board all day at loveland, then work the evening rental returns shift. Slept so many times in the parking lot :D
thank goodness for the Subaru Loyale wagon being long enough to sleep in

It took me a while to get used to white sauce, but I use it almost all the time now. I hate the oversweetened stuff.

Yeah I drove Vail pass last weekend and couldn't believe how deep the pavement ruts were in spots, and that was a clear day where I could see.

A+
Earn your turns. Almost as if you on the other side of the ocean understood how innately satisfying it is laugh at the current corporate atmosphere pervading over these resorts.

I worked the evening shift at ManorVail Lodge in Vail while in college. Ski from opening till 2 ish. Start my 3-11 shift. That was an epic winter too. We got 100 inches between 12/1-12/25. So much snow.

LCC in salt lake(Snowbird/Alta) has been closed for two days and interlodged the whole time. I have a couple friends that are “ trapped” up there.

Did you see traffic on 70 the Sunday that the x-games finished? Backed up past Dillon from Georgetown ! Not sure if that’s normal but holy hell.
